==CD's==
Various versions of MapleStory were distributed on physical CDs across multiple regions. These CDs, released mostly in the mid-to-late 2000s, served as a way to install the client without long downloads and were often packaged with bonus content like NX codes, exclusive items, or printed materials. The CD packaging itself often featured unique regional branding, version-specific artwork (such as NPCs or classes), and promotional inserts that reflected the current major update at the time of release.

Most MapleStory CDs were retail products sold through major electronics, gaming, and convenience stores. Alongside retail editions, there were also limited promotional CDs distributed for free during promotional events.

== Closed Beta NPCs ==
In the oldest available closed beta client for Korean MapleStory (dating back around 2004), there were four different NPCs that weren't being used at all. They have functions defined in the game's files, dialogue and quests assigned, but they were most probably used prior to this version, or never implemented in the game. Nothing much is known about the NPCs, and there's not much information about them in old korean forums for the game.

Something interesting about the unused NPCs, is that they have low numbers as IDs, probably signaling how early in development they were added to the game.

반스 ''(Banseu)'' is an NPC with a green uniform and a staff with a golden top. His hat seems to be in a shape of a mushroom. He seems to be some kind of guard, together with [[#에블라 | 에블라 ''(Ebeulla)'']], having really similar uniforms.

Has the quest value of ''fighter'' in the game files, so he was likely used for the Swordsman job change during the closed beta.

에블라 ''(Ebeulla)'' is an NPC with a green uniform, really similar to [[#반스 | 반스 ''(Banseu)'' ]], but with the difference that he looks more like a warrior because of his polearm.
Has the quest value of ''magician'', probably an early Magician job change NPC, before Grendel was introduced into the game. Despite looking more like a warrior, he seems to have the quest value for the Magician quest.

Something interesting about his dialogues, is the fact he mentions 엠블라 ''(Embla)''. This NPC is nowhere to be found in the files, so it's probably referencing a way more early NPC. Though, there's no way to confirm this as of now.

However, some of the IDs defined in the shop do not exist, signaling how early in development she was added to the game. The Gachapon Jackpot Set (Also known as: 'The Super Set' or 'Grand Prize Set') is a set of 5 rare equips which were in the Gachapon drop pool during the Gachapon Jackpot (or 'Grand Prize') Event, around the Alliance Unbound Update in 2012.

- Items from the Gachapon Jackpot Set do not show up when trading with an NPC, likely to prevent players from selling them by accident.

== Background Music ==
MapleStory’s original set of background music (BGM) were composed by Jun-Hee Lee (also known as CODASOUND and LedZeper) in 2003. According to an article Lee posted on Naver in 2021<sup>1</sup>, these were created with the music production software Propellerhead Reason 4.0. This set of BGM tracks use a variety of samples that were both included with Reason and were shared amongst the community via shared sample packs known as Reason Refills.

This sample is included in the Reason Factory Sound Bank (under Other Samples / FX-Vox) that was packaged with Reason 4.0.
